about

Sacred chanting with beauty, passion, and reverence.

Sri (pronounced shree) carries the listener with love and ease into the ancient yoga of sacred chanting (kirtan), inviting the listener to sing along in spiritual practice, or to simply resonate in the sacred ambiance created by the album. Benjy’s exquisite music is featured with his vocals and esraj, and he creates a powerful percussion experience with world-wide influences on tabla, djembe, congas, frame drum, and other percussion. Heather leads sacred chanting on this album with crystalline vocals from the heart and soul of devotional music. Guest artists include Krishna Das, Snatam Kaur, Gina Salā, Steve Gorn, Manose, Jami Sieber, and others.

We never in our wildest dreams imagined we’d fall so head-over-heels in love with the practice of kirtan, which is the devotional chanting we are so blessed to be doing with all of you. As we journey ever more deeply into the heart of devotion, we uncover the beauty of our own hearts ... and are touched by thousands of your hearts.

Srı is the divine beauty of the universe, which is unveiled in this practice of love we call kirtan. It is also a name for the sacred feminine presence, known as the Goddess in her many forms and in Hebrew as l’Sh’china. We bow deeply into this presence in honor and gratitude.
